In the incident that took place on the island of Lesbos in the Aegean, the Greek Coast Guard took action when the owner of the sailboat named Nefes, which docked in the Lesbos Harbor, hoisted the flag with the picture of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the mast of the boat.
In the event, which was widely covered by the media broadcasting on Lesbos Island, LOIATH (Lesbos Offshore Sailing Club) President Nikos Tallas, in a post on his social media account, published the relevant images from the sailboat and suggested that the Greek Coast Guard intervene immediately.
The Greek Coast Guard teams, who came to the sailing boat named Nefes with a length of about 16 meters, asked the captain and crew of the boat to lower the Atatürk flag immediately on the grounds that it did not comply with the sailing rules.
The President of the Lesbos Sailing Club, Nikos Tallas, then issued the message "We thank the Coast Guard personnel who did not miss anything, well done to them".
