Greek and Bulgarian Police authorities meet on cross-border policing
A working meeting on cross-border police cooperation was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in Kardzhali, Bulgaria, with the participation of senior police officials from both countries.

Senior Commissioner Ivaylo Stoyanov, Regional Director of Border Police (RDBP) Smolyan
Heads of border and police administrative structures responsible for areas along the Greek–Bulgarian border
Agenda
The meeting focused on issues of common interest following Bulgaria’s recent full accession to the Schengen Area, with particular emphasis on:
Enhancing cross-border police cooperation
Improving responses to cross-border crime
Establishing mechanisms for the swift resolution of arising issues
Outcome
The meeting concluded with the exchange of ceremonial gifts and a mutual commitment to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
