Greece to launch “PosoKanei” real-time price tracking platform for consumers

The Greek Ministry of Development is finalizing a new digital platform called “PosoKanei,” designed to provide real-time price monitoring and replace the existing “e-katanalotis” system, aiming to increase transparency and strengthen consumer protection in the market.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to address rising living costs and improve household purchasing power amid ongoing inflationary pressures and global economic uncertainty.

A Next-Generation Price Comparison Tool
Unlike a simple price database, “PosoKanei” will function as a comprehensive digital market monitoring system, offering consumers instant access to price comparisons across thousands of products.

The platform is expected to track more than 10,000 product codes, updating data dynamically throughout the day to reflect price changes and supermarket promotions in real time.

It will also include:

  • Real-time price comparison tools
  • Continuous daily data updates
  • A historical price archive of up to three months
  • This feature will allow consumers to evaluate whether discounts are genuine or simply follow previous price increases.

Transition from “e-katanalotis”
The new system will replace the existing “e-katanalotis” platform, which has been operating under Greece’s Central Markets and Fisheries Organization (OKAA). The former platform has long provided price comparison and consumer information services via e-katanalotis.gr and related applications.

Government Strategy Against Inflation
Authorities describe “PosoKanei” as part of a wider policy framework to tackle inflation and enhance transparency in retail markets, especially in essential goods such as food and household products.

Recent approval of budget allocation by the Ministry signals that the platform is approaching its operational launch phase.
