Minister announces all major events related to Russia, including Bolshoi Ballet, canceled
Greece suspended all current and upcoming cultural events related to Russia, the Greek culture and sports minister has announced.
The directive includes also the cooperation, planning, or discussion of events with Russian cultural organizations, Lina Mendoni said on Monday.
As part of the decision, the Swan Lake of The Bolshoi Ballet Live, scheduled for this Sunday at the Athens Concert Hall and the Moscow Soloists events, planned to take place at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall on March 30, were also canceled.
Greece, along with several other countries, has become part of the wave of artists, intellectuals, and organizations that have isolated Russia from all cultural events taking place around the world after Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Since last Thursday, hundreds of people have been killed and thousands forced to flee in fear for their lives due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
