Greece successfully evacuates 16 citizens from Iran amid tense conditions
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the successful evacuation of 16 Greek citizens and their family members from Iran to Azerbaijan, carried out under extremely adverse conditions.
The operation was coordinated by the Ministry in close collaboration with the Greek embassies in Tehran and Baku. Although the specific nature of the adverse conditions was not disclosed, the Ministry emphasized that the mission was carried out with urgency and care to ensure the safety of all evacuees.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic authorities of Greece in the region are making every possible effort to ensure the safe repatriation of Greek citizens,” the official statement said.
The Ministry did not elaborate on whether further evacuations are planned but reiterated its commitment to protecting Greek nationals abroad, especially in areas affected by instability.
