Hristo Samartzidis, who came to Edirne to watch the historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, said that he admired Kırkpınar and his dream is to wrestle in Sarayiçi Er Square one day.
Samartzidis, 28, who came first in the Sofos Wrestling held in Greece last week, came to Edirne to follow Kırkpınar, the "Olympics of oil wrestling".
Samarcidis told AA correspondent that he was very impressed by the atmosphere of Kırkpınar. Samartzidis, who stated that he was doing mat and oil wrestling in Greece, said, "I became the champion in the wrestling held in Greece last week. I have been interested in wrestling since I was 12 years old. They were telling me that there were very big wrestling in Türkiye. I did not expect it to be so big and beautiful. There are very good wrestlers, there is a super atmosphere. I will always come. I would like to wrestle in Kırkpınar if I could. Every wrestler's dream is to wrestle in Kırkpınar."
