Greece ranked second in the ranking of countries with the highest youth unemployment in Europe last year. Spain, which ranked first with 28.5 per cent, was followed by Greece with 26.7 per cent.

According to the European Statistical Office, youth unemployment was 14.5 per cent in the EU and 14.4 per cent in the euro area.
Youth unemployment rate was 22.7 per cent in Italy, 22.1 per cent in Sweden, 21.8 per cent in Romania, 20.3 per cent in Portugal, 19.8 per cent in Slovakia, 19 per cent in Croatia and 18.8 per cent in Luxembourg.
Germany, the locomotive of the European economy, had the lowest youth unemployment rate with 5.8 per cent. Germany was followed by the Netherlands with 8.2 per cent and the Czech Republic with 8.3 per cent.
