Gov.gr delivers major benefits six years after launch

According to official data, 39 digitalisation and administrative simplification initiatives are delivering annual savings of more than €562 million, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 43,000 tonnes and saving more than 205 million sheets of paper each year.

Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou said the reforms have transformed the relationship between citizens and the state, replacing bureaucracy with more efficient, citizen-focused services.

“Six years after the launch of gov.gr, the most important change is not only the thousands of digital services available, but the change in mindset. The state is now organised around the needs of citizens,” Papastergiou told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

The digital transformation programme was launched in 2019 as a key government priority aimed at modernising public administration and reducing bureaucracy.
