A gas station in Crete has announced that it has stopped supplying fuel to any motorcycle where its driver or passenger is not wearing a helmet.

As reported by local media, the filling station in Kissamos, Hania, made the decision following the recent death of a 16-year-old in a traffic accident.

The young man was seriously injured in a crash in the town last month and died 16 days later in the ICU unit of Hania hospital.

“We hope that the other gas stations in our town will follow this action so that we never have to mourn victims again,” the gas station stated.
