Florina court rejects requests to close 'Macedonian Language Center'
The lawsuit and objections filed by the prosecutor's office for the closure of the Macedonian Language Center established in Florina were rejected by the Florina Court of First Instance.
The Florina Court of First Instance, with its decision on Thursday, March 16, rejected the request for the closure of the Macedonian Language Center, with 50 pages of justification. The decision was welcomed among Macedonians living in the region.
İn the statement on the Macedonian Language Center's social media account about the court decision stated: "Historical Decision! This is the victory of the Macedonian language in Greece!”
The court did not accept the objections to the closure of the Macedonian Language Center in Florina , which was approved in July last year, and found the establishment petition of the association to be accepted as correct.
As will be remembered, Vasiliki Thanu, Honorary President of the Supreme Court and one of the former prime ministers, argued in his article that the association in question was against Greece's national interests and should be closed down. After Thanu's article, the Florina Prosecutor filed a lawsuit to close the Macedonian Language Center .
In the meantime, Honorary President of the Supreme Court of Appeals Thanu also wrote an article about the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association and argued that the registration decision of the association should be cancelled.
The Rhodope Prosecutor's Office also filed a lawsuit for the closure of Fenerbahçe Association .
It is wondered whether the decision of the Florina Court will set a precedent for the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association in Komotini. The lawsuit filed by the Rhodope Prosecutor's Office demanding the closure of the Western Thrace Fenerbahce Association postponed to July 2023.
