Two burnt bodies were found in a forest area in Corinth on Monday, in an area where a wildfire broke out on Sunday and spread quickly due to strong winds, according to the Greek police.
Firefighters were battling the flames throughout the night.

The Fire Brigade announced earlier on Monday that the fire has no active front but several scattered fires are still raging.

Firefighting forces reinforced at Xylokastro; evacuation message to the village Pyrgos

Firefighting forces operating on the fire which broke out on Sunday in a forest area in Rozena Xylokastro, Corinth, where two people had earlier lost their lives, were reinforced on Monday.

According to the Fire Department, the fire does not have a single front but many scattered flames that are still burning. A total of 350 firefighters with 14 teams of forest commandos and 110 vehicles, assisted by volunteers and Civil Protection volunteer teams, water tankers and machinery supplied by the Peloponnese Region and the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, and Forestry Service and Hellenic Police forces, are trying to extinguish the fire, with the help of seven aircraft and 11 helicopters.

A message via 112 was sent to the residents of the Pyrgos area in Corinth, instructing them to evacuate toward Lygia due to the ongoing fire.
