According to a survey conducted by Eurobarometer, the European Union's (EU) institution responsible for public opinion surveys, 8 out of every 10 Greeks cannot pay their bills.

According to the Eurobarometer, 87 per cent of Greeks believe that their living standards will deteriorate in the coming year. Another 12 per cent do not expect any change, while the rate of those who believe that the standard of living will improve remains at 1 per cent.

According to the Eurobarometer report, 73 per cent of Europeans believe that living standards will fall in the coming year. 24 per cent expect no change, 2 per cent believe that living standards will improve and 1 per cent do not answer.

When Greeks were asked whether they had had difficulty paying their bills in the last year, 50 per cent said sometimes, 36 per cent said most of the time and 14 per cent said never.

To the same question, 62 per cent of citizens of other EU countries answered that they have no problems paying their bills, 28 per cent sometimes have problems and 9 per cent often have problems managing their finances.

According to Eurobarometer data, Greece ranks first among the 27 EU countries with difficulties in paying bills.

Sweden, Denmark and Finland take the first three places in the countries where there is no difficulty in paying bills.
