Elevator registration deadline approaches
Property owners, apartment building managers and elevator maintenance professionals in Greece face fines of up to €5,000 if elevators are not registered before the June 30, 2026 deadline, according to reports citing government regulations.
The registration process is conducted through the national Elevator Registry platform, which was launched in 2025 as part of efforts to create a comprehensive database of elevators operating in public and private buildings.
Officials say registration is mandatory and intended to improve safety oversight, certification procedures and maintenance monitoring. Penalties vary depending on the type of building and the nature of non-compliance, with the highest fines applying to certain public-use facilities.
Despite repeated extensions, participation rates remain below expectations, prompting authorities to urge property owners and managers to complete the process before the deadline expires.
