Digital platform for will publication launching in November
A new digital platform for the electronic publication of wills, diathikes.gr, will go live in November, the Ministry of Justice announced on Wednesday.
The platform, developed in collaboration with the Hellenic Notary Association, aims to significantly reduce the burden on courts and speed up the process for citizens.
Currently, will publication takes an average of 400 days, but under the new system, this will be cut to just 3–7 days, as notaries will handle the process instead of courts.
Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis said the reform is expected to remove 60,000–70,000 cases annually from the court system. In 2024, over 76,000 applications to publish wills were submitted, with 14,000 still pending.
The new system will apply to deaths occurring after November 1, 2025, while a separate legal provision for pending cases is expected by the end of November.
