Deputy Foreign Minister Hatzivasiliou aims to maintain positive agenda with Türkiye

Tasos Hacivasiliu, the newly appointed Deputy Foreign Minister responsible for economic diplomacy, has expressed his commitment to continuing the positive agenda initiatives between Greece and Türkiye, which were prioritized by his predecessor, Kostas Frangoyannis.
Hacivasiliu officially assumed office on January 20, 2025, following a handover ceremony. Addressing the event, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis thanked Frangoyannis for his services, noting that he will continue as an advisor to the Prime Minister.
Frangoyannis highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including boosting exports and attracting foreign investments. He explained that his resignation was a personal decision, stating he no longer felt capable of fulfilling the role’s demands.
In his remarks, Hacivasiliu paid tribute to Frangoyannis, saying:
"Dear Kostas, I want to emphasize some of the initiatives you successfully implemented over the past 5.5 years that I intend to continue. Foremost among them is the positive agenda between Greece and Türkiye. It serves as a vital communication bridge between neighbors and remains a promising area for progress."
Hacivasiliu also announced his intention to further strengthen trade cooperation with Arab countries, building on the efforts of his predecessor.
