Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer inspected the area where the bridge will be built.

Sezer, who was informed about the project, stated that the bridge will speed up the crossings between the border gates.

Deputy Governor Eyyüp Batuhan Ciğerci, District Governor Ömer Sevgili, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Hacı Ali Büber, Provincial Police Chief Onur Karaburun and Provincial Director of Migration Management Musa Aşılıoğlu accompanied Sezer during his visit.

To be built in partnership of two countries
The Turkish side of the bridge will be constructed by the General Directorate of Highways and the Greek side will be constructed by the Greek government.

The second bridge, the construction of which will start this year, is intended to speed up passenger and freight transport.

The main length of the bridge, the technical works of which are carried out by the 1st Regional Directorate of Highways, will be 811 metres long and the part over the river will be 344 metres long. The bridge, which will be built as 4 lanes in the form of double round trip, will also have an emergency aid road and pavements.

The existing 2-lane bridge, which was built in 1958 to cross the Evros River between the border gates, is sometimes unable to respond to the increasing vehicle traffic between the two countries.
