While tensions continued in the relations between Türkiye and Greece, the death of the mother of Greek Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos opened a new channel of communication between the two countries.

To Vima newspaper wrote that Panagiotopoulos' mother, Kaiti Panagiotopoulos, died suddenly of cancer the previous day, and that the two counterparts communicated because of condolences and exchanged good wishes.

SUPPORT MESSAGE

The newspaper reported that after Akar learned of the death of Panagiotopoulos' mother, he immediately sent a message of support and wrote, "Dear Niko, my condolences to you and your family, may your mother rest in peace."

"I WISH IT A YEAR OF PEACE"

Panagiotopoulos, on the other hand, said: "Thank you for your support and I wish 2023 to be a year of peace in which we must work together so that it will be peaceful and happy."

MINISTER AKAR SENT FLOWERS TO THE FUNERAL

While it was also stated in the news that Akar sent flowers to the funeral after the message, it was also noted that Panagiotopoulos informed Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis about his communication with Akar as part of the condolence diplomacy.
