Charges filed against four police officers over femicide

The Athens First Instance Prosecutor has initiated criminal proceedings against four police officers in connection with the murder of Kyriaki Griva outside the Agioi Anargyroi police station in western Athens in April 2024 by her former partner.
The four officers are being prosecuted for the felony of fatal exposure by omission.
The individuals charged include the supervisor, the duty officer, the officer who witnessed the crime without intervening and the emergency dispatch operator, who dismissed the victim’s pleas for safe transport home, telling her, “Patrol cars are not taxis.”
The case file has been assigned to an investigative magistrate, who is expected to summon them for questioning.
Griva, 28, was stabbed to death by her ex-partner shortly after leaving the police station in Agioi Anargyroi, where she had gone to report him for stalking and to request a police escort home.
