Austrian diplomat holds contacts in Western Thrace
Mrs. Martina Hermann, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Austrian Embassy, visited Western Thrace.
It was stated that Hermann came to the region to attend the opening ceremony of the holocaust monument to be held in Xanthi on Sunday, February 20.
Austrian diplomat Hermann visited East Macedonian Thrace State President Christos Metios in his office in Komotini.
According to the press release Mrs. Hermann expressed her interest in the region to the head of the state, Metios, and information was exchanged between the two about possible cooperation opportunities and opportunities in the field of tourism and culture.
MEETING WITH THE MAYOR TSEPELİS
The Austrian diplomat visited the Mayor of Xanthi, Manolis Tsepelis, in his office and talked for a while.
Mayor Çepelis expressed his pleasure to host the Austrian Diplomat in Xanthi and gave information about the Jewish monument to be opened on Sunday, February 20.
Mayor Tsepelis pointed out that the people of the modern world should remember the black pages of history and said that the past should be known and remembered so that similar black pages do not occur in the future.
Expressing that she agrees with what Mayor Tsepelis said, she also stated that an importance should be given to culture and cultural activities so that the dark pages he mentioned does not happen again.
Hermann said that a “musical dialogue” started last year with the gathering of Austrian and Greek musicians.
