Writer of FEP Party book Murat Derin denied to enter Greece
Murat Derin, who wrote a research book about the FEP Party founded by the late leader of Western Thrace Turks, Sadik Ahmet, and works as an academic at Trakya University, was banned from entering Greece today (09.04.2022). The customs police did not allow him to enter Greece, saying, "You cannot enter the country," to researcher-academic Murat Derin, who was trying to enter Greece through the Kipi border gate.
As it will be remembered, the book Murat Derin wrote about the FEP Party was published in 2021 by the BAKEŞ-Western Thrace Culture Education Company in Greece.
Murat Derin shared the following in his statement on his social media account:
"I wanted to enter Greece this morning through the Kipi gate to conduct scientific research. The police officers said that my entry into the country was prohibited and they would not accept me into their country. What is the problem? When I asked why my entry was being blocked, I first said, "We don't know", then "You Know Why". I asked for an official document. They filled out the "Unacceptable Passenger Form". When I looked at the form, it was marked "National Information System". Greece, the cradle of democracy (!) and a member of the European Union, carried out such practice against me, even though there was no crime or investigation. Actually, I was expecting it. If you did research on Sadik Ahmet, the FEP Party, and the Turks of Western Thrace, of course, Greece would still be 'Greek'. Today, I understand very well the suffering of the Western Thrace Turks for centuries and those who were stripped of their citizenship under Article 19 and turned away from customs. This application has confirmed how accurate my studies are. We will always continue to work!..."
