ABTTF: "Another new criticism of our country's point of view that distorts the facts!"

Georgios Papahristos, one of the famous writers and journalists of our country Greece, made statements about the ongoing discussions about the Aegean Sea in a program he participated in on alert television.
Stating that the Aegean is not a Greek lake, that the west of the Aegean Sea belongs to Greece and the east belongs to Turkey, Papahristos said, "It is not possible have good neighborly relations as long as we claim the Aegean to be our".
Citing the proximity of the island of Bulamaç (Pharmakonisi) to Türkiye as an example, Papahristos noted that Greece's claims to extend its territorial waters to 12 miles in the Aegean Sea were an absurd dream, and said that Greece's neighbors also have a right and must accept this now.
Regarding the issue, the President of the European Western Thrace Turkish Federation Halit Habipoğlu (ABTTF) said, “The statements of the writer and journalist Georgios Papahristos, which criticize the well-known traditional theses of our country and offer a different perspective, are extremely remarkable. Our country, which always looks at events and problems unilaterally, maintains the same approach in Western Thrace. Our country, which claims that only Greeks or Greek Muslims live in Western Thrace, denies the existence of the Western Thrace Turkish community and our Turkish identity, and defines us as Greek Muslims. As Papahristos emphasized, our country must immediately abandon its point of view and uncompromising attitude that distorts the facts and which only it is convinced. Thus, a constructive dialogue based on facts will be opened between our country and our homeland, and this constructive approach that our country will adopt will have positive reflections on the solution of our society's questions.”
