737 drunk driving over Easter holiday

According to the statement released by the General Directorate of Security in Greece, it was stated that 737 people who had drunk excessively during the traffic controls during the Easter holiday put their lives and the lives of others in danger by driving.

It was noted that the penalties foreseen by the law were given to drunks who were driving.

Between 15-25 April, it was announced that 5,331 traffic police teams controlled a total of 139,024 vehicles across Greece.

During the controls, it was stated that a total of 31,978 people were found to have violated the traffic rules and the penalties stipulated by the law were issued.

In the statement, the following statistical information about the controls was shared.


VIOLATIONS

Overspeed: 7,889

Not wearing a seat belt: 848

Alcohol: 737

Not wearing a helmet: 730

Vehicle inspection delay penalty: 583

Reverse direction: 360

Using a mobile phone: 266

Traffic sign violation: 237

Dangerous driving: 175

Safety lane violation: 132

Dangerous overtaking: 123

Do not give way: 54

Not using a child seat: 29

Driving in the left lane: 13

Other: 19,802

TOTAL: 31.978

The Police Department announced that strict traffic controls will continue until next Tuesday. It was noted that additional measures are on the agenda, especially on Monday, May 2, when the 1 May celebrations will be held.

All drivers should try to be careful not only in these days when strict traffic measures are taken, but always in accordance with the traffic rules and very carefully.
