"7-day visa at the door to the Greek islands" approved by the EU Commission
Spokesperson Ketseli made a statement regarding the "one-week visa application at the door for Turkish tourists in Greek islands" announced by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, whom President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met during his visit to Greece.
Ketseli stated that the Greek authorities have informed them that the EU Commission has approved the Greek authorities' proposal to apply a single-entry visa valid for 7 days at the gate for touristic travels of Turkish citizens to 10 Greek islands and that a regulation on the subject is being prepared by the Greek authorities.
Explaining that they are waiting for the official notification of the application, Ketseli said, "This has been in the works for a while. In the islands that will be included in the application, our negotiations with the Greek authorities continue in order to develop the necessary infrastructure such as customs and passport control so that our citizens do not face difficulties in entering and leaving the islands."
"Regarding Greece's consistent support for (Türkiye's) European Union (EU) membership process, our country supports visa facilitation (for Turkish citizens) within the framework of the European acquis so that Turkey's young generations, scientists, business people, students can establish closer ties with Europe. In addition, Greece requested and received from the EU Commission the possibility for Turkish citizens and their families to visit our 10 islands 7 days a week, all year round."
