Turkish Coast Guard Command teams gave a helping hand to 15,174 irregular migrants who were pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements last year.

Irregular migrants, who leave their countries due to civil war and turmoil and embark on a "hope journey" to establish a better life in Europe, are faced with ill-treatment by the Greek elements at sea.

Greek elements take their valuables and push them back into Turkish territorial waters. They take their valuables from the boats where they have dismantled rubber boats, life rafts or engines.

Turkish Coast Guard Command teams come to the rescue of irregular migrants who come face to face with death in the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean.

According to the data on the website of the Turkish Coast Guard Command, between January 1 and December 31, 2021, 15.174 irregular migrants pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements were disembarked.

6 thousand 595 irregular migrants were rescued in İzmir, 2 thousand 945 in Muğla, 2 thousand 909 in Aydın, 1570 in Çanakkale, 1126 in Balıkesir and 29 in Antalya.
