More than 100,000 rally against far-right in Berlin

Tens of thousands of people in Berlin on Saturday formed a human chain around the German parliament (Reichstag) to protest against the far-right, police said on X.

According to police information, around 120,000 people were initially on site, as more people joined the rally.

The protest was held by Hand in Hand, an umbrella of 1,300 civil society organizations.

The large crowd in Berlin was the latest in a series of anti-right wing extremist demonstrations that have been gaining momentum in recent weeks.

The demonstration comes in the aftermath of last month's report that right-wing extremists recently met to discuss the deportation of millions of immigrants, including many with German citizenship. Some members of the far-right Alternative for Germany party, or AfD, were present at the meeting.
