Tourism Min: Pet-friendly tourist accomodation to carry special sticker

Tourist accomodation that allow pets will carry a special sticker, according to a joint ministerial decision signed by Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Deputy Interior Minister Vassilis Spanakis on Thursday.

The purpose is to raise the standards of accomodation for visitors with pets and to promote animal-friendly and responsible attitudes. The decision includes service dogs, working dogs, and therapy animals. Such accomodations should include, among other things, pet rooms that involve specific criteria, while the responsibilities of the pet owner are also laid out, including cleaning up after their pet, keeping siesta hours, and so on.

Additionally, the joint ministerial decision suggests that animal-friendly accomodations work with animal welfare organizations registered locally to promote the adoption of pets, while owners of the accomodation will be able to donate part of revenues to the organizations.
