Supermarket chains to implement reductions in the prices of basic products

By the end of October, it is estimated that prices on the supermarket shelves will have been reduced between 6% and 15% for 120 product codes, while more than 600 product codes of various suppliers will gradually participate in the initiative.

It is noted that, already, the supermarket chains have informed the General Secretariat of Commerce about the relevant lists of product codes.

In a statement, the Greek Super Market Association (GSA) said: The application of price reductions to basic consumer products has begun on supermarket shelves.

The price reduction initiative is an invitation extended by Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos to all suppliers of food and branded consumer products, as well as organised retail traders (supermarkets) of the country.

Both suppliers and organised retail are responding positively to the minister's invitation and by the end of October, approximately 120 product codes with new reduced prices will be available on supermarket shelves.
