Runways at 8 Greek island airports to temporarily close for upgrades
Runways at eight regional Greek island airports will close on a rotating basis between November 2025 and March 2026 for reconfiguration and reconstruction, Fraport Greece announced on Monday.
The schedule is part of the fourth phase of upgrades across 14 regional airports and will affect the following locations:
Cephalonia (EFL): Nov. 17 – Dec. 1, 2025
Corfu (CFU): Jan. 12 – Jan. 26, 2026
Zakynthos (ZTH): Feb. 2 – Feb. 16, 2026
Mykonos (JMK): Every Tuesday 00:01 to Wednesday 23:59, from Nov. 18, 2025 – Mar. 18, 2026 (excl. Dec. 23, 24, 31 and Jan. 6, 7)
Mytilene (MJT): Every Tuesday 00:00–23:59, from Nov. 18, 2025 – Mar. 24, 2026 (excl. holiday dates)
Rhodes (RHO): Every Tuesday 6 p.m. to Wednesday 5:59 p.m., from Nov. 18, 2025 – Mar. 24, 2026 (excl. holiday dates)
Samos (SMI): Every Wednesday 00:00–23:59, from Nov. 19 – Dec. 17, 2025 (excl. Dec. 23, 24, 31)
Santorini (JTR): Jan. 12 – Jan. 19, 2026
Emergency flights, such as medical evacuations and humanitarian missions, will continue via helicopter. All other airport services will remain operational during the closures.
