New "Baby Basket" program to support families with essential discounts

The Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family is preparing a new initiative to support families as part of its demographic action plan. The program, called the "Baby Basket," aims to ease the financial burden on parents by offering discounts on essential baby products.

Following the success of previous initiatives like the "Household Basket" and "Godparent Basket," the "Baby Basket" will include items such as infant formula, diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and essential baby equipment for the first year of life.

To prevent excessive price increases or profiteering, participating products will have a set profit margin. Businesses joining the program voluntarily will update the ministry weekly with the lowest prices available to ensure full transparency for consumers.

Products in the program will feature special labels on packaging and at points of sale, including physical and online stores. Stores participating in the initiative will also display clear lists of "Baby Basket" products and their prices at their entrances.

This new effort complements previous measures like the reduced VAT on baby items and aims to strengthen support for young couples planning to have children.
