Municipal fees about to rise further

Already at the beginning of the new year, many large municipalities have proceeded with significant increases in municipal taxes and fees, which are charged via electricity bills.
Moreover, given that both the Single Property Tax (ENFIA) and other property levies will from now on be paid on a monthly basis, even privately owned homes will, in practical terms, be subject to “rent” that can even exceed 80-100 euros per month, depending on the asset.
Toward the end of the month, the ENFIA tax statements for 2025 will be sent, payable from now on in 12 installments, which means that as of March 2025 a monthly obligation is created for owners for as long as they remain owners.
A second monthly obligation appears on households’ electricity bills, consisting of the municipal fees and taxes (which are about to go up too), the real estate fee and the fixed fee for the state broadcaster (ERT), as well as that for the power grid operator (DEDDIE), whose fixed part can amount up to €149 per year (or €12.4 per month) after last year’s hikes.
