Türkiye's Ambassador to Bucharest Özgür Kıvanç Altan said that Türkiye and Romania are two friendly and allied countries at the "Romania Days" event hosted by Trakya University.

Stating that there are very close military relations between the two countries, Altan said, "We work together within NATO. We carry out many exercises together. Our 4 F-16 fighter jets protected the Romanian airspace for 4 months. We do not do this for everyone, we do not send our pilots for every country. But we gladly did this for Romania and we will do it again."

Stating that they attach importance to ensuring the security of the Black Sea, Altan said, "In July, God willing, Turkish, Romanian and Bulgarian warships will launch a joint operation against the mine threat in the Black Sea. You cannot do this with every country. You can do it with the countries you are really close to, with the countries you see as strategic partners. Romania has officially been our strategic partner since 2011."

"We have very strong ties with Romania since history"

Governor of Edirne Yunus Sezer stated that important steps were taken for the development of relations between the two countries.

Underlining that the two countries are strategic partners, Governor Sezer said, "We have very strong ties with Romania since history. We are happy to see the development of relations in every field from defence industry to education, from trade to tourism."

Stefan Alexandru Tinca, Ambassador of Romania to Ankara, stated that the two countries have strong diplomatic ties since history.

Explaining that they will continue to share common values and co-operate, Tinca said, "Our strategic partnership is very important. Cooperation brings positive changes."

Rector of Trakya University Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu also wished that the event would contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries.

Within the scope of the event, the folk dances team from Romania also performed.
