Four nationals from North Macedonia face trial for luxury car thefts

The case file includes 19 car thefts valued at over 1 million euros, with most of the vehicles ending up in the defendants' home country. Two additional individuals including the alleged ringleader are also charged but remain at large.
Among the defendants who stood trial, three were sentenced to prison terms of 12 and 14 months for gang involvement, while the fourth received an 8-year and 10-month prison term for aggravated theft and gang activity. According to the court's verdict, the latter was found guilty of breaking into victims' lodgings to steal car keys.
The stolen high-end vehicles were transported to a location in Eordaia, from where another accomplice smuggled them through secret routes to North Macedonia. Consequently, the court acquitted the three "drivers" of aggravated theft charges but ordered that they be prosecuted for the lesser offense of handling stolen goods.
