Atik Behram Bey or Alaca Mosque, the oldest mosque in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, will be renovated with the support of the General Directorate of Foundations of the Republic of Türkiye.

The work, which is in the category of national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will regain the dome it had in 1888.

Restoration will be carried out by Bosnia and Herzegovina Islamic Union Foundation Directorate with the financial support of Türkiye. Cooperation 7 will be held within the framework of the protocol signed between the General Directorate of Foundations and BiH Islamic Union Foundation Directorate.

The Alaca Mosque is mentioned for the first time in 1548, but it is estimated that the structure was built 15 years before this date.

The founder of the Alaca Mosque is unknown, but it is known that Behram Bey founded his own foundation in the early 17th century.

In September 1871, the mosque, madrasah and school were burned in the great fire that surrounded Tuzla. A new mosque in Neo-Moorish style was built on the same site in 1888.

In February 2010, the National Monuments Protection Commission declared the building complex, of which the Alaca Mosque is a part, a national monument.
